The Battery Within
Sometimes I wish we came with batteries we could swap out when our inner light dims. As a hypnotist, I’ve seen how our flame isn’t meant for instant recharges, but for intentional care. In this blog, I share how to tend your emotional battery, why our dimming moments carry wisdom, and how hypnosis helps restore energy so your inner flame shines steady and strong.
The other night, I noticed one of my candles, the kind with a battery-operated flame, had dimmed and gone out. At first, it made me sigh with disappointment, but within moments I changed the battery, and just like that, the little flame was glowing again. I couldn’t help but think, Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we were the same? If our inner light dimmed, all we’d need was a quick battery change to return us to full radiance.
But then I paused. Do I really wish it worked that way?
Maybe the human spirit isn’t meant to be instantly recharged. Maybe we’re not here for simplicity or the ease of a fresh battery. Perhaps the very experience of dimming, of losing energy, of needing rest and renewal…that is part of the journey. Our emotional battery is not just about staying “on.” It’s about noticing when the light grows faint, understanding why, and allowing ourselves the space to restore from within.
Unlike the candle, our energy doesn’t come from something we insert externally. Our flame is kept alive by what we nourish ourselves with our thoughts, our relationships, our practices, our willingness to pause, heal, and grow. A new battery can’t teach us what we learn in the quiet of exhaustion, in the tender moments when we recognize our limits. That recognition often becomes the very wisdom that fuels us for the long road ahead. So yes, part of me sometimes wishes I had a simple battery swap for the days I feel dim. But maybe the truth is, we are far more extraordinary than that. Our light, unlike the candle’s, doesn’t depend on something outside of us. It depends on the love, care, and presence we choose to give ourselves. And in that way, every time we tend to our flame, every time we intentionally refuel, we prove that we are not just rechargeable, we are remarkable.
And here’s what I recommend: instead of waiting until your light goes out completely, like I recently have with my personal grief, instead check in with your emotional battery each day. Breathe deeply. Ask yourself: What would recharge me right now? What small shift would bring me back into alignment? Maybe it’s rest. Maybe it’s a walk. Maybe it’s closing your eyes and imagining a golden flame being relit inside you. When you do this consistently, you begin to notice that your flame doesn’t just flicker back on…it grows steadier, stronger, and more dependable. Because when you learn to recharge from within, you don’t just light up, you shine in a way no manufactured battery ever could.
REFLECTIONS:
When was the last time you felt your inner flame begin to dim, and what helped you spark back to life?
What daily practices (big or small) could serve as your personal “recharge station”?
If your subconscious could speak, what would it say you most need right now to keep your emotional battery strong?

The Unpotted Plant: A Journey of Hope and Resilience
Discover "The Unpotted Plant: A Journey of Hope and Resilience" - a poignant reflection on growth, resilience, and self-love in the face of adversity. This inspiring story draws parallels between the struggle of an unpotted plant and the human experience, highlighting the power of hope and meaningful connections. Explore how hypnosis can help individuals find inner strength and stability amidst life's chaos. Join the journey of those who thrive despite the odds, reaching for the light with unwavering determination.
After recently staring at a picture of an unpotted plant, I found myself transfixed, reflecting on how deeply I could relate to its struggle and resilience—there it was: small, full of potential, and waiting for the right conditions to grow. Some seeds are carefully planted in fertile soil, nurtured with care, and given the perfect environment to flourish. Others find themselves in less ideal circumstances. This is the story of those who are like unpotted plants, finding growth and hope despite the odds.
Imagine a seed falling onto the earth, not gently placed into a pot by a careful gardener, but left to fend for itself on the open ground. No one took the time to pot these seeds, to give them a stable environment where they could spread their roots with ease. Instead, they had to anchor themselves wherever they landed, striving to dig into the earth with determination, often finding themselves in hard, unyielding soil.
Their roots, which should have had the freedom to spread wide and deep, were constrained by the limited space and resources around them. Without the protection of a pot, they faced the harsh realities of the natural world—droughts, storms, and scorching sun. There was no gardener to water them regularly, no careful hands to prune their leaves or protect them from pests. They relied on the whims of the weather, the rare rain showers, and the occasional gentle breezes to sustain them.
In this harsh environment, survival became their primary goal. Thriving seemed like a distant dream, something for the potted plants with their rich, moist soil and regular care. But even in the toughest conditions, they discovered something profound: the power of resilience and hope. Their growth might have been slow and stunted compared to those in pots, but every inch they grew was a testament to their strength and willpower.
The light became their guiding star. No matter how challenging their circumstances, they always reached towards any available light with a sense of hope. Whether it was a sliver of sunlight breaking through storm clouds or the warm glow of dawn after a cold night, they stretched and grew towards it, believing that better days were ahead. This hope, this unyielding drive towards the light, kept them going.
Over time, they realized that being an unpotted plant had its own unique beauty. Their struggles and challenges shaped them, made them more adaptable, and taught them the true meaning of resilience. While the potted plants had their stable environments, they had the freedom to grow in unexpected ways, to find strength in adversity, and to appreciate the simple gifts of nature.
Being an unpotted plant means accepting the unpredictability of life, embracing the struggle, and finding joy in small victories. It means understanding that growth is not always measured by how tall or fast they grow, but by the depth of their roots and their ability to keep reaching for the light, no matter how distant it may seem.
To all the unpotted plants out there, remember this: your journey may be difficult, and your path may be uncertain, but every inch you grow is a triumph. Keep reaching for the light, keep hoping, and let your resilience be your strength. You are a testament to the incredible power of nature to find a way, to grow, and to thrive, even in the most challenging conditions.
Hypnosis can help those who feel like an unpotted plant by guiding them to find inner stability and strength amidst external chaos. It can foster a sense of deep relaxation and self-awareness, allowing them to cultivate resilience and adapt to their environment more effectively. Through hypnosis, individuals can learn to reach for their own sources of light and hope, enhancing their ability to thrive despite challenging circumstances.
For now, let us support one another with empathy and understanding, approaching each interaction with trauma-informed care, so we can all thrive rather than merely survive, allowing our roots to flourish with vitality.
